Are Startup Weekends just for fun? The survival rates in the Netherlands

Startup Weekend is a global phenomenon where (newbie) entrepreneurs can share ideas, form teams, and launch startups in 54 hours.

We like Startup Weekends, because they let people speed date with entrepreneurship, connect likeminded people and they have great vibes. We would really recommend it to anyone, especially if you have never participated in one before.

But the fair question arises: are Startup Weekends just for fun or are new businesses actually created? We have tried to answer this question by analyzing previous Startup Weekend winners in the Netherlands. This is what we found:
